MARIA’S BRUNCH

METUCHEN, NJ

Our latest food find is FINALLY here and it is bursting with flavor and the warmest experience. Maria’s brunch recently went up and running  less than a year ago and they are coming full force with warm classic diner brunch dishes with a touch of Mexican culture. I told my husband this “I feel like its modern brunch spot intertwined with a touch of mexico and local warm diner food.” And its really that! from the classic “hungry man’s breakfast” to the popular “huevos rancheros” that’s full of flavor and latin touch. Keep scrolling for more on this special brunch spot.

THE VIBE

It was warm, quiet and welcoming. The staff welcomed us with smiles and attended us immediately. There was a lot of greenery and wide windows with natural lighting. I don’t know about you but I love a brunch spot with lots of natural lighting. There’s just something so warm and comfortable about natural sunlight. The seating area had comfy booths or small tables with all your go-to brunch condiments on each table.

HORCHATA chai iced latte

What is brunch without a nice cup of coffee or tea? For this experience we decided to start off with a cup of black coffee (that’s the way Justin likes it) and a specialty latte for maself hehehe. I chose the Horchata chai because horchata is one of my favorite traditional mexican drinks and I’m a chai lover. I got it iced because the iced latte pics on their website looked oh so appealing. It was sweet enough, and it didn’t have too much spice to the chai. And lastly the rice milk taste that horchata has was delicate and creamy.

CHORIZO BOWL

Brunch is always a challenge in choices because I’m usually torn between wanting something savory or sweet, can anyone else relate? But today being that the menu was very Mexican inspired, I went for savory. This dish was filled with flavor. The chorizo was chopped into small pieces that were smooth and almost looked grinded. The seasoning was close to a smoky, “al pastor” type of flavor with a slight kick. The taste was sooo good especially mixed with the home fries and the fresh guacamole. The guacamole that was paired with this dish was absolutely perfect, chunky yet creamy, zesty , with the perfect amount of cilantro.

CHORIZO TOSTADA

Justin ordered something similar. Lets just say we both love chorizo. I mean anything spicy is our thing. This dish was interesting because it had a touch of france with the hollandaise sauce that covered the eggs benedict and the chorizo layered right under the eggs. The eggs were perfect and they didn't overdo the hollandaise sauce. The potatoes paired with this dish was everything else this plate needed to balance the kick we got from the chorizo. They were a little crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I cant leave out that this dish was also accompanied by   guacamole, making it that much more full.

CHURRO-TEX-MEX TOAST

Can you tell we were trying to get the fullest experience? haha. We ordered another dish! The churro tex-mex toast (definitely took some to-go) It had that flaky sweet taste as if you were eating a churro/funnel cake type of food. It was moist. It was sweet. And the fruits gave it a nice light taste to it. What made this dish extra tasty was the dulce de leche dip for the toast. definitely worth ordering again!

WORTH IT?

It was just one of those places where you sortve know everything is probably gonna be delicious. The most special thing about this spot is to see the dream of a hard-working woman come to life, and her family supporting that dream.
